Background

Coach Matt is a Long Island–raised coach who works with players of all ages and skill levels. He brings a competitive playing background as a guard from Baldwin, NY — competing at Nassau Community College and later York College (CUNY).

Matt has coached all ages with Game 7, Baldwin Bruins, Hoop Group, and now Hoop Lab. His coaching approach is rooted in what made him successful as a smaller guard: confidence, pace, decision-making, and the ability to create advantages through skill and IQ — not size.

Driven, positive, and highly engaged, Matt emphasizes growth over perfection. His guiding motto: “Don’t be afraid of failure. This is the way to succeed.”
